Back up restore
Hi I am trying to access some old payroll report by restoring the back up file. But tells that the password is incorrect even though I am entering the correct password as per our records. Please ...
Hi deepak5727
You didn't specify which password you were referring to. Earl_HD assumed it was the zip password when restoring the backup. This password cannot be recovered.
If however you are referring to the username and password to open a restored file, this can be recovered. Try leaving it blank in case no password was set. If that fails you may need to have the password reset - or you can do this yourself using a tool. Just remember that the password used to sign into an online file with an email address is not the same as the password used to sign into an offline file. If the file is offline you need to use the offline username and password.

Hi Gavin, I am having the same issue with one of the old backup file I got. It asked to upgrade the file to 2024.11 (current 2024.1) and asking for password that I never set or change , blank is default password with User ID : Administrator.
I have no issues with other company file. Could you please shed some light? TIA
Hi kimi13,
As you mentioned, the default password is blank. If it doesn't go through without a password, it's likely been updated to have a password. I recommend reaching out to support if you aren't able to recover the password. The support team can definitely help with that. You can reach out via the MyAccount window or live chat through MOCA.
Thanks,
