P&L Stock figures incorrect

We are having a problem with opening and closing stock accumulating each month and not showing each months true figure. Gross profit is correct but the figures in opening and closing stock are very skewed.

    Hey lashby,

From what you’ve described, it looks like those opening and closing stock lines are showing year-to-date totals rather than just the monthly figure. This explains why they keep building up even though your gross profit still checks out. If what you’re seeing doesn’t match that behaviour and the balances just seem off, you can reach out to our team on Live Chat via our virtual assistant, MOCA, or by submitting a support case via My Account. They’ll help you get this sorted.

    Cheers,

    Doreen

  • Hi Doreen,

Thanks for coming back to me. So are we in that case unable to see just the monthly figure?

Can we see a true opening figure for July 1 2025 and a true closing figure for December31 2025? The current figure is accumulative so looks weird as its very inflated.

    Thank you

    Hi lashby

With the standard P&L, you won’t be able to get those stock lines showing month‑by‑month figures. For what you’re trying to do, you’ll get a better result by running either:

    • a Balance Sheet dated 30/06/2025 and 31/12/2025, or
    • the Inventory Value Reconciliation report as at those dates.

Those will give you a true opening and closing stock value for the period. It’s also worth having a play with a few different reports to see which layout works best for how you like to review your numbers
