Income Type for Subclass 500 (Student Visa)

Hi All,

I'm in the process of creating a card in MYOB for hiring someone with a Student Visa.

Which Income Type can I use as they are not considered working holiday maker .... or are they?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Mini

    Hey there minimo1,

The usual income type for employees is "salary and wages." However, since the employee in question has a student visa, it would be best to speak to your accountant for more specific information.

    Best regards,

    Doreen

    Hi Mini

I have the same situation and just wondering which tax table description you ended up using for your employee and which income type.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Kind regards

    Alison

      Hi Alison,

It depends on how long is the student visa, in my case the employee held a 2 years student visa and I've categorised him under "Salary and Wages", in his TFN he choose "Australian for Tax purposes" and yes to "Free Tax Threshold" hence I've just followed his options.

I think it will be treated differently if the student visa is less than 6 months.

      Cheers,

      Mini
