I wonder if it is opening off-screen and as a result, the software thinks it's open but you can't see that window (as it's outside of the bounds of the window). My recommend would be to select to open that window as you would normally then go to Windows (top of the screen) and select Cascade. This process will pull all windows on screen including ones off-screeen.

Thanks Steven for your reply. No I have two monitors, nothing on second screen and cascade didn't reveal anything. Today cards are opening again (after four attempts to sign in) so myob must have fixed the problem. Let's see if myob will decide to send their invoice to me next month, as they said they would in December but haven't followed through. Soooo annoying having to contact them and wait on hold for ages and then they don't do what they say they will.
