Reinstating an employee within 6 weeks

I have reinstated an employee by manually creating a new card and adding 'OLD CARD' to their existing card. So, now they have a new card and a new Payroll ID number, do I still have to remove the original termination date reported in STP to the ATO?

I did not remove the termination date and I have successfully processed a new pay using the NEW card file and NEW Payroll ID number

It appears to have gone through with no glitches

If you intend to reuse the existing employee card, you will need to remove the STP termination date and delete the newly created employee—unless a pay run has already been processed

Hi Chris. Long service is sorted. I just need to know if I still have to remove the termination date in STP reporting to the ATO. I understand if I were to use their original card and Payroll ID I would have to remove their termination date BUT I created a NEW card file and NEW Payroll ID number for the employee

  • Recommend to check your states long service leave legislation for length of time between leaving and returning for continuity of employment before removing the termination date
