STP Reporting

Has anyone had a problem with prefill figures in ATO site? We had a pay reversal which is not reflected in the ATO prefill PAYG figures. in MYOB file the reversal looks correct, but in the payroll reporting centre it is just showing as a pay event not a negative pay.

  • Hi Gavin

Thank you for the article, which is very useful. It certainly requires the (unavailable) Adjust Event.

It seems, then, that there is nothing I can do to fix it, so without wasting anymore time, I'll have to escalate it with MYOB and ATO.

    Regards

    Frances

  • Hi again

Forgot to mention that there have been no reversals, adjustments or update event at all.

All totals are reconciled after each payrun, and I only became aware of the discrepancy upon accessing the ATO online BAS.  Any help is very much appreciated.

Ring the ATO, that's what I did. very helpful! unlike our software provider

      • Hi AshcroftIGA

Yes, thank you, sounds like the only plan, I will call the ATO.

  • Hi

I have a similar issue, where MYOB STP differs from ATO prefilled wages and payg totals for the online BAS.

I see that one payrun shows as Zero amounts (which is incorrect), however the YTD totals are correct in the Payroll Activity, Payroll Register and YTD Verification reports. I also note that the Zero payrun has incorrect from and to dates.  How can I fix this ?

      Hi PES-Frances

Suggest you have a read of this article How the STP System Works - these explains why the repeated suggestion to lodge an Update Event will NOT fix this issue. The only way to fix is to lodge an Adjust Event. This is not possible with MYOB as MYOB Aust decided not to add this functionality.

      Gavin

    Hi AshcroftIGA,

Since the reversal is not reflected on your ATO prefilled PAYG figures, I'd recommend sending an update event and then checking the values in the reports. If the values are correct, make sure to check the ATO prefill PAYG figures again.

Feel free to let us know if you need any other help.

    Thanks,

    Genreve

        Hi AshcroftIGA,

We've seen instances where discrepancies between MYOB records and the ATO prefill figures can occur, especially after a pay reversal. While the reversal might look correct within the MYOB software, it's crucial to ensure that this adjustment is properly reflected in the ATO's payroll reporting.

Check if the pay reversal is appearing as a separate event or if it was reported correctly. Confirm that the negative adjustment is included in the final figures.

Ensure that the YTD figures match what has been reported to the ATO. Any differences can affect the prefill figures.

Log into the ATO Business Portal and cross-check the reported figures with what is expected. If the negative pay isn't reflecting correctly, it may indicate that the reversal wasn't transmitted properly.

If you continue to experience issues, you need to reach out to our live chat support through our virtual assistant MOCA or submit a case via MyAccount. You can also consult with an accounting professional to ensure accurate reporting.

        Regards,

        Sai
