Error logging into MYOB AccountRight

I am using the desktop version of AccountRight, and have been able to open the company file for many months.

But this morning, when I enter my username, I get the attached error. ("Unable to get property "prototype"...)

I have tried restarting the laptop, and have also tried clearing cache, but am still getting the same error

I can access the company file via the online version, which suggests the file itself is OK

  • Hi RichardSwann

Thanks for your post. I hope you will find it to be a great resource and place of information.

Some steps to try to resolve that error are:

    1. add MYOB as a trusted site in Internet Explorer settings
    2. clear the browser cache including cookies by going to  Windows Control Panel>>Internet Options, within the Internet Properties under Browsing history select Delete, ensuring that the first 4 options are enabled before selecting Delete
    3. go to Windows Control Panel>>Internet Options, click Settings under the General tab, click View files, delete the contents of the folder

As this does involve deleting data from the computer we do recommend speaking to an IT person in relation to impacts and ensuring this task is completed for your environment.

Please don't hesitate to post again if you need help in the future.

    • Thanks

I have tried doing these steps, but am still getting the same error

  • I have the exact same issue. We are an third party IT Provider.

Ps. Embedded Internet Explorer is not a good look in 2023!!

SOLUTION to javascript error after logging in to MYOB AccountRight:

So the real fix was to just add https://id.myob.com to IE Internet Options > Security > Trusted Sites list.

Then clear cache & restart for good measure.

OR Group Policy setting 'Site to Zone Assignment List' https://id.myob.com = 2

This really should have been more clearly documented; not a half vague comment by an Employee post saying 'add MYOB to trusted sites'.

Having to do this is still a dodgy fix/workaround though.
