Thanks, that's a very interesting link. It's a little alarming that this is such a persistent problem a third party can step in and make a buck out of it. This is a lousy way for MYOB to treat its customers.
I will persevere for a while - MYOB should fix this and it looks like they do if you can break through to a competent moderator.

Yes it is a lousy way for MYOB to treat it's customers - over the years they have turned off automatic online confirmation for v19 etc numerous times. Last year they put up this website for v19 users to generate their own codes - this was the only positive sign on this issue I have seen in years.
As for 3rd party making a buck, the background is interesting - I know the owner of the business. He buys the codes from a UK developer (so literally makes a buck or perhaps 3) who in around 2011 found a way to generate the confirmation codes. This was because after selling some 10k MYOB licences in the UK, MYOB shut down UK operations, shut down the confirmation code server and sold the client list to another accounting software company. This left UK MYOB users unable to confirm their files and forced to switch to the other accounting software company (and buy a new licence). A MYOB Users group was setup to generate codes for those users who wanted to keep using MYOB, some of whom are still using MYOB today, over 10 years after MYOB left the UK.
