Forum Discussion
Hi KGatBarron,
Thanks for your post and welcome here to the Community Forum. Thank you for taking the time to share your concern with us. We apologize for any difficulties you have experienced when you are signing into your account that does not require your email and password. We understand how important this is to your business and we thank you for your patience and understanding.
In this matter, for AccountRight live you may go to Services >> Sign out from AccountRight >> then login again. That will make the system prompt you to add your email address and password when logging in. However, for the browser version, I want to confirm that we have rolled out some changes regarding 2FA. The automatic login is a known feature that has been introduced as an upgraded security measure.

Hi there,
All of our users are now able to open MYOB directly without any sign on at all. We are using the browser version.
This is highly unsecure and would allow anyone to open the MYOB app and access MYOB without logging in.
How is automatic login an upgraded security measure? Can you please advise what is going on?
Thanks
Lynne

Hi Lmcstack,
Thank you for your post.
We're sorry to hear about your experience with your access. We understand the importance of the security and safety of your data. Before we proceed, could you please confirm if you are using an AccountRight file and accessing it via the web browser version?
There are two points you'll need to check when you log in to an online AccountRight company file:
- The AccountRight Live Login: this is your my.MYOB account details (your email address and password). If you're signed in, you'll not be prompted for the log-in screen, where you'll need to enter your email address and password, and you're automatically signed in to the company file when you select it.
- The company file login: this is your user ID and password. If you've linked your user ID to your my.MYOB account through Setup >> User Access, this will skip the User ID and password screen. If this setting is unticked, then the company file will ask you to enter and link the user ID and password.
In the AccountRight desktop version, if you want to enter your email address, password, and 2FA code every time you'll be accessing your file, you may need to sign out each time you'll be closing the program through Services >> Sign out from AccountRight Live. If you're using the AccountRight web browser version, once a user is signed in with the file, closing the program or selecting the exit button on the web browser will not sign them out.
Please let us know if you require any further assistance with this. We are happy to assist.
Cheers,
Princess

Forcing the user to manually sign out each time we use the desktop version is not making it more secure; it's just adding another layer of difficulty and making it harder to use. Please stop constant, unfriendly upgrades!
