Hi Learoy,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, it’s always nice to hear from an MYOB veteran.
We understand that not every business wants to accept online payments or provide additional details, and it makes sense that you'd expect more flexibility in how these features are introduced. The reason it’s being rolled out this way is to meet updated security and compliance obligations. It’s part of a platform-wide upgrade aimed at protecting businesses from the growing risk of online fraud, not just for those using online payments, but across the board.
The good news is, once you're verified, you can disable the online payment options if they’re not for you. The verification step simply helps ensure everyone using the platform is legitimate and protected.
You don’t have to upgrade to secure invoicing if you prefer not to, that choice is yours. But just so it’s clear, without the upgrade, you won’t be able to send invoices through MYOB’s system using email, copy link, or SMS. Those features are only available with the secure invoicing upgrade.
Upgraded users also get access to enhanced security tools to help protect both you and your customers. If you’d like to keep using those sharing options and offer a more secure invoicing experience, we recommend going ahead with the upgrade.
