Secure invoice - losing features in MYOB

From what I have read secure invoicing is a way to reduce the capacity  to switch off / on online payments system wide ?

Wanting us to open each card to stop online payments ?

Yet if we don't upgrade we loose the ability to send batches of invoices ? Down load each invoice and email.

Have I got this wrong ?

We do not need online payments, we are totally happy with our current methods of invoicing and payments methods,  and we are happy the security of these methods.  Cannot believe that MYOB are going to block us from emailing invoices because we have not set up direct debit authorities, and supplied financial information to them.

MYOB. How can you ask businesses, that have supported you for years mind you, to verify themselves in such a way, give over sensitive business, banking and financial information for a service they don’t even want. Disgusted in the approach. Many of my clients don’t want the features you are demanding they sign up for, but still just want to email an invoice which they are already paying for within their subscriptions. Not very transparent in your emails or website.

I think you have this right..  Why do we have to set up all this information to allow us to email invoices to our customers... when we do want to allow or use online payments???

    Hi Earl,

Why can't this be an opt in or opt out situation.

So many of MYOB's clients do not want their customers paying for invoices via MYOB and do not want to hand over their sensitive information to MYOB.

Why don't the powers that be listen to their clients?

We have had a subscription with MYOB for over 20 years and you should know who we are by now.

    Regards,

    Lea

Yes, you have it right... this is exactly what MYOB are trying to do.

MYOB has to allow the basic accounting procedure of emailing invoices to our customers, without signing up for their online payment systems..

    Hi Marie7,

Secure invoicing is an important upgrade we’re rolling out this year to customers who send invoices on MYOB subscription plans from Lite through to AccountRight Premier. It adds multiple layers of security for your clients' businesses, plus automation features designed to help them save time and accelerate cashflow.

    Why we're making this change
Cybercrime costs Australian small businesses an estimated $300 million every year, and invoicing scams targeting small businesses are increasing in frequency, sophistication and impact. We’re upgrading the invoice experience to enhance the security of our platform for the benefit of everyone who uses it, including our valued partners, clients and customers, and the customers who pay their invoices. We want to work together to educate clients on the risks of invoice fraud and other scams and support them in adopting business verification as a means to building a safer payment ecosystem.

What happens if my client doesn’t complete the business verification process
The secure distribution system is only available to verified businesses. If verification is not completed by specified deadlines, functionality for sharing and distributing invoices may be restricted. Specifically, the email, copy link and SMS options for invoice sharing will be disabled, and invoices will need to be downloaded and emailed manually until the business has been verified.

    Hi Learoy,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, it’s always nice to hear from an MYOB veteran.

We understand that not every business wants to accept online payments or provide additional details, and it makes sense that you'd expect more flexibility in how these features are introduced. The reason it’s being rolled out this way is to meet updated security and compliance obligations. It’s part of a platform-wide upgrade aimed at protecting businesses from the growing risk of online fraud, not just for those using online payments, but across the board.

The good news is, once you're verified, you can disable the online payment options if they’re not for you. The verification step simply helps ensure everyone using the platform is legitimate and protected.

You don’t have to upgrade to secure invoicing if you prefer not to, that choice is yours. But just so it’s clear, without the upgrade, you won’t be able to send invoices through MYOB’s system using email, copy link, or SMS. Those features are only available with the secure invoicing upgrade.

Upgraded users also get access to enhanced security tools to help protect both you and your customers. If you’d like to keep using those sharing options and offer a more secure invoicing experience, we recommend going ahead with the upgrade.
