CSV bank statement to QIF or OFX

Why doesn't MYOB accept CSV like Quickbooks?

As our bank doesn't offer QIF or OFX only CSV how do we get it into MYOB. We don't want to spend more money on downloading software to enable MYOB to do something that other accounting software like Quickbooks already does, even if the CSV file takes a couple of tweaks as opposed to entering it all manually. MYOB could build a simple macro to check the file before it imports it to ensure it aligns. Is this something you are going to offer?

Also see this post that someone else made "Which application do people use to reliably convert csv to qif or ofx fifiles to import bank files into MYOB? Don't really want to download dodgey software.  Would be really nice if MYOB changed the process so csv files could be accepted!"

All banks and other organisations use the CSV file for their statement downloads, Excel doesnt allow for a file conversion to these antiquated QIF & OFX files.

MYOB needs to offer a conversion of these CSV files into its antiquated system.

      Hey Maree_C,

That sounds like a handy feature for you and other users. The good news is that it's already been suggested as an idea, and you can add your support by voting for it through this link. Your feedback helps shape future updates, so every vote counts.

      Cheers,

Yes that is correct, they like to talk over the top of you and not listen to the actual issue at hand. I was asked yesterday for my email password so that I could be 'verified'? The issue I have is agent that set up MYOB charged me well and also put the owner as her (the agent) No response from the agent/partner I have been left in the cold. As my email were hacked an offline for two weeks this I could not log in due to the 2fA was ending a code to a dead email. Thanks fr a month of stress and upset. No help to get me back on line without the 'owners say so' (needs signed ownership form) I hav been ignored and am looking for another accounting platform that will have helpful staff and I wish to be the owner because if you get locked out, you will be paying every month and not able to use the system. I was trying to upload QIF files yesterday and I received message saying that the format had to be TXT, the bank does not use this format. Returned to office 3 hrs later and the QIF file was uploaded and accepted. I have very little faith no in MYOB been using it since 2007 and they will not release my data.

  • Given that MYOB doesn't offer the option to upload a CSV how do you go about converting a CSV to a QIF file?

Hopeless with no help to rectify the problems at hand. Wait on hold for 1.5 hours, missing other clients calls only to be transferred two another area. Starting to feel that they do this to hop that you give up! they have the subscription, then they don't care at all. Out of all th consultants I have spoken to I had one only that actually assisted me.

  • Hi Earl,
Thanks for your feedback. I have voted as suggested. But given this issue/idea was raised a whopping 9 years ago and nothing has been done to address it, my consumer confidence is low that it will be addressed over the next couple of months. This is costing us a day of a staff's members time now to enter it manually as MYOB does not think it necessary to support CSV format. Thus, it is not worth paying for MYOB. I cannot imagine how many customers you may have lost because of this, that MYOB are unaware of. This problem with MYOB is mentioned all over the internet. We will switch to Quickbooks.

    Hi AJ1,

Thanks for your post. We understand that the ability to import CSV files directly, similar to QuickBooks, would be highly beneficial, especially when your bank only provides CSV statements. Since this feature has already been suggested, I recommend showing your support for it on our product ideas page. ( Bank transactions: Import statement - ability to import csv files )

Feel free to start a new post if you have further queries and one of us will be happy to assist you.

    Regards,
    Earl
