Won't accept a payment to a company owner
I am trying to record a payment to the owner as Owner's Drawings/Personal Expenses. I did the same thing last year without any problems now it is giving the following error message:
'A Personal card is currently linked to this transaction. You must firstly link a Supplier or Employee card to this transaction before making the transaction an Electronic Payment. You have indicated that the transaction is to be paid electronically. Personal Cards cannot be linked to electronic payments.'
The owner's card is personal, but it is not set to electronic.
I have noticed that recently all payments seem to be tagged electronic. I cannot even see where to select that on cards and I have definitely not selected electronic when recording payments.
I am trying to set up electronic payments for wages but not for other payments.
Hi sharynne,
Sounds like the Owner Drawings/Personal Expenses suddenly stopped working.
Based on how you described it, what’s happening here is that the Spend Money is being treated as an electronic payment, and MYOB doesn’t let you use a Personal card on electronic payments, even if you haven’t ticked anything on the card.
To fix it, you’ll just need to change which account is set up as the Bank Account for Electronic Payments:
- Go to Setup > Linked Accounts > Accounts and Banking Linked Accounts
- Change Bank Account for Electronic Payments to an Electronic Clearing account (not your main bank account)
- Click OK, then try recording the owner’s drawings again
