How to turn off smart reconciliation?

When I heard about smart reconciliation I thought it was a good idea, so I turned it on. Now I'm not so sure. I can't see any way to turn it off completely.

I did turn off all the automatch settings, but it didn't turn off the smart reconciliation feature.

How can I turn it off?

So glad I was going a bit of browsing while eating lunch.  This could be why several transactions from years ago popped up in the reconcilliation last month.  I assumed either I had stuffed something up or the accountant was in the file again 'adjusting things' (they do that to me from time to time, I think to justify their ever increasing bills, but that's another gripe).

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for your patience while we checked this further.

At the moment, there isn't an option in-file to turn Smart Reconciliation off or revert back to the previous banking view. I understand that's frustrating, especially when you're expecting to see that option available.

If you need help with account-specific transaction behaviour, please contact our support team through My Account so they can look into your file securely.

    Regards,

    Genreve

  • I am any MYOB Business user and have also had the same problem with old transactions suddenly appearing from 3-4 years ago as 'unmatched' and can no longer reconcile my bank account.

I never turned on Smart Reconciliation, MYOB did it automatically.

All MYOB instructions are incorrect, there is nowhere to switch back to 'Classic View'.

I DO NOT WANT SMART RECONCILIATION, NEVER ASKED FOR IT, CAUSES MORE PROBLEMS THAN IT SOLVES.

I have already wasted hours of time trying to fix something that was working a few weeks ago and now does not work.

MYOB need to fix this and not charge users for their MYOB subscription fees until it is fixed as some kind of compensation for lost time and wages.

TEST YOUR PRODUCTS BEFORE YOU LAUNCH THEM!!

Doing a bank reconciliation is a fundamental part of bookkeeping, how could MYOB not realise 'Smart Reconciliation' was going to stop users from performing an ordinary bank reconciliation. MYOB should have realised this was a problem before causing so much extra work for so many people.

  • Do we know if this is fixed yet??

Coming up on year end and it is not a good look to not be able to reconcile bank and credit cards!

Perhaps if we all make official complaints they will take it seriously and address this issue?
We should be allowed to make the choice to use this feature, not be forced.

Client hasnt turned it on - so where is the button to turn it off. Do the software writers actually know anything about bookkeeping because is sure doesnt look like it.

    Hi All

Just an FYI - I had the issue that Transactions in banking were ticked and greyed out and you couldn't untick them before the date to which you were reconciling so something like AMEX had transitions that were matched but were on the date of the reconciliation but not in the statement that I was reconciling to because of timing issues.

THE FIX - you have to unmatch the transaction from the category then reconcile. After you've reconciled to the statement you then can re categorize them

    OLD Transactions in bank reconciliations?

THE FIX  - You can hide them in the old Account right - if say less than 50 - but if more ask MYOB to do a bank end deletion

    Hope this helps

Has anyone got a solution - this is crazy - I went through and changed all I could - we have over 30 files - and today smart reconciliation is back on. If anything turns us to another software it will be this! Too many mistakes being made by staff now with it.

I answered above the fix  :) Its annoying but you have to go out of the reconciliation unmatch  the things that shouldnt be in there and then come back in and reconcile

Hi, I had similar issues. Was unable to turn off auto-match options using my desktop version.

But when I went into my file on the "Browser" option, I clicked on Banking, then Bank Rules, then found 4 or 5 toggle options to disable as needed.

Note: These were all enabled by MYOB automatically, which is quite presumptuous on there part!

    Hope this helps somewhat.

Yes it just seems that even though everything is turned off, untoggled etc - each morning smart reconciliation appearrs again! It is very time consuming with the number of files we have.  Thanks though.
