We won't be bullied into it by MYOB who are making a cash grab by forcing a paid upgrade so they can earn a commission.

We're working around it although it's not ideal :(

MYOB has some nerve blocking invoices being sent unless you upgrade.

Getting really fed up with MYOB

  • I finally got around to reading the fine print in this 'Business Verfification' notice. I won't be accepting this. So MYOB you want us to link our business bank accounts to you, what GUARANTEES do you have that you can't be hacked and our information stolen - None! From what I see as customers we pay you enough for the services you supply, and some of those are questionable, then you are going to punish the companies that won't comply with your 'new service'. After 25 odd years as a loyal customer we'll be looking elsewhere.

It absolutely disgusting! We are proceeding with the changeover to Xero. I do believe somehow that a  previous comment made by myself has also been altered/deleted. They obviously don't like being called out for what they are! They choose what the public will and will not see

I wouldn’t give clients the option to use the “secure online payment system.”

It costs your client an extra 25 cents plus 1.8% of the invoice value — fees that go straight to MYOB. On a $1,000 invoice, that’s an additional $18.25 simply for the convenience of paying online.

      Hi UnhappyKamper ,
There is no linking to bank accounts as part of the secure invoicing upgrade.
There are questions in the verification related to finances like business turnover and there is a new direct debit agreement that needs to be signed. But there is no 'linking' of the account through this process.

Its not really an upgrade is it! IF you don't want MYOB to handle your payments and take 1.8% of each invoice for doing so, then you have to print to pdf and then email yourself. In which case its actually a downgrade - but without a price reduction.

It's an absolute joke! We pay a monthly subscription and have been loyal customers for years and now they  block us from directly sending invoices unless we comply with secure invoicing... they have no business in what they are asking and we find it absurd. We will be calling our accountant tomorrow and making the switch to Xero. I have read that they do give you an opt out however here is the catch, you are required to verify first then opt out. So paying for a subscription and unable to use the current features is fair how?

Agreed.......we are forced to upgrade.....then "opt out". Why not just give us the option to "opt in?"

I actually wonder how many MYOB clients who have 'upgraded' realise that myob then get a cut of each invoice in addition to the charge for sending the invoice.

The reply to you states "We also have help articles outlining the fees as well as information on how to disable the online payments if it is not suited to your business"

Only way to do that is comply with secure invoicing first.... no thanks

Lets see how long it takes for this comment to be altered/deleted also...

I completely agree with you, this is a downgrade!

Hi GateGirl , the secure invoicing upgrade process clearly outlines the fees involved for online payments.

We also have help articles outlining the fees as well as information on how to disable the online payments if it is not suited to your business.

To be clear for anyone else who reads your comment, there is no charge for sending the invoice.

The fees (0.25c + 1.8%) only apply if/when the online payments is used by the recipient paying the invoice

Is that 1.8% of the invoice total?  So if our invoice total to our client is $20k, they have to pay (0.25c + $360.00) for the privilege to pay via MYOB?

I have been given an exemption to the secure invoicing feature after raising a case with AFCA, I highly suggest all should do this.

I understand the need for business verification. However, I object to MYOB requiring businesses to use their payment platform. We neither need nor want this, as we prefer our customers to deposit funds directly into our bank accounts. Although an opt-out option exists, the process should not have been designed this way. We should not be required to sign up for direct debits, and then having to opt out of this, as this is unnecessary for the verification process.

I still want to know why they need our business's turnover and the number of employees we have as part of the verification process.......MYOB have still not addressed that point.

I have received a few bills from suppliers who by the look of it have upgraded.

All you see is this big green button asking to PAY then you click on a link, get redirected to website where you get to download the actual invoice.

You can download the PDF file and send it via your own email server. I think you can only down load files via the cloud/online web or print and scan, its all additional work and time. When you were able to just hit the send button.

Hi Hasfree.....unfortunately you do have to upgrade just so you can send out invoices....ridiculous.

yes it does, we were unable to send invoices today. We had to download the PDF file and send it via our own email server as we didn't comply with secure invoicing.
