Secure Invoicing

I've just noticed a warning saying I have 7 days to upgrade to secure invoicing....ummmm what does this mean please?

  • Hi DebM

That warning certainly throws you off if you haven't read about the secure invoicing update yet. It just means MYOB is asking you to upgrade to Secure Invoicing within 7 days.

This is a security upgrade to help protect against invoice fraud and scams, and it includes a business verification step.

If you don’t upgrade, you can still create invoices, but you won’t be able to send them through MYOB by email, copy link or SMS.

You can read more here: https://www.myob.com/au/support/security/secure-invoicing-upgrade

Search the hundreds of messages on the Community Forum about this.  No one is happy about this and it is not necessary by MYOB to do this.  They are basically forcing you to use their payment platform - hoping you forget to opt out after enduring the process of giving them all the information about the company,  officeholders and bank details, which they don't need.

If you don't send a lot of invoices, I would ignore the message and just print to PDF and send by attaching to an external email.  Bit of a pain, though.  It only stops you emailing the invoices direct from MYOB.

Or complain like others and get an exemption. See chatboards.

Or move to Xero - they don't have this.....yet.

  • Thanks Marlyse, I will try to get an exemption.  Sending invoices through MYOB is so convenient but I do not see the need by MYOB to demand private company information and I do not want to be caught out with fees if I miss unchecking a box.

getting an ex emption is a short term solution

secure invoicing does not suit our type of customers

the myob help effectively told me if i refuese to fill in our personal (akin to all our details) he would just download the info from ASIC - so what was my problem ???? but if i put the word "black   followed by mail" in the forum i get cut off. seriously if myob cannot provide us with security on our invoicing  being issued through the program, how can they provide us with security on all our personal details. MYOB you need to get this house in order - your sales team is harranging me to upgrade to an $80k a year version and you cant give invoice security - mmmmm not a hard choice, and appraently we have a 180 day exemption, like a timebomb one would possibly say !!!

    Hi Blunda13

Thanks for sharing your feedback. I understand why you're unhappy with this change.

If you'd like to support an existing suggestion or suggest a better way to handle security with invoices, you can post it on the Ideas Exchange board so other users can vote on it and the dev team can gauge interest in that change.

    Regards,

secure invoicing as you have designed it does not apply to users that have multiple invoices to the client in a month, the client pays some at random , and often we need to upload the invoices to the clients portal

, the bit that really offended was your supporty dude telling me if i didn't load my personal detail he would just search it and and what he found as he felt like it.

This is why I'm 95% completed my migration away from MYOB and my new software does not have any email issues and has not asked me for all my personal information to do so. So far much happier.

Just send through the info they are asking for Anita.  It's not that big a deal.  Once it is done you have plenty of options for the online payments.  You can pay the fees, have the customer pay the fees (which in our experience, won't cost you a cent) or turn it off altogether.  It felt a little intrusive initially to give the info but we give free info to Meta & Google every day and no-one seems to care about that.

I have two clients that need trust deed copies, trying get a copy from accountant at this time year and with our workload. Myob really needs to re think when send out the upgrades. Clients have no idea.  Sent request via support hoping they give extention to end month.  Clients will be complain, when they cannot invoice to us and becomes our problem. Do not have time wait on support or online.
