Updating prices and get error message: items per selling unit can't change after the item is used in a transaction.

Hi

I'm doing a bulk update to item prices in exel, and it is failing to import. I get the error message:

"items per selling unit can't change after the item is used in a transaction. Enter the same value as the existing 'No. Items/Sell Unit' record"

Items per selling unit was not changed, only the price.

I can see on the forum that this was a known problem 2 years ago, and appears not to have been fixed. Also, the resolution given on the forum 2 years ago was to update the items manually, which is not an acceptable solution, as capability to do a bulk update of prices is reasonable to expect from any accounting software.

I have 348 items that failed to import, it would take hours to do it manually. I had the same problem a year ago, and it was resolved by running a script.

  • I've had the same problem on and off. sometimes I can change the selling price, sometimes I can't. The only constant is that it's a real pain in the a$$ when it happens...

  • I am also having this problem with a client however I am unable to update manually either per code - are you saying you have to run the script across the file even if only trying to update say 6-10 items

      Hi GHMDeb,

If you’re running into the same problem, the best move is to reach out to our backend team. We’ve got a script on our end that can be arrange over your file to fix this issue. You can reach them on Live Chat via our virtual assistant, MOCA or by submitting a support case via MyAccount.

      Regards,
      Earl

    Hi Genreve

I haven't heard anything; it's been one week since I first sent through a support request on 15 Aug; they closed it even though the problem wasn't fixed, so I went to the forum. I am concerned that it might not be fixed in time for us to do invoices before the end of the month.

    Hi Genreve

I tried live chat; we waited more than 45 minutes after running the script and attempting the import, but the confirmation email has not come through, and the item list so far has failed to import the items that have transactions.

       Hi mikescott

Just had a look at your case, and I can see you replied about six hours ago. For now, best to hang tight and wait for the email team to get back to you. Looks like the fix didn’t go through, so there’s a chance it might need the data repair team to jump in. But let’s keep working with the email team and see what they come back with.

      Regards,
      Genreve

        Hi Genreve

I still have not heard from the email team. I need to know if anyone is going to fix my problem or if I am required to find my own solution.

        Regards

        Mike

    Hi mikescott

No worries if you’re seeing the error “items per selling unit can't change after the item is used in a transaction”, that one’s easily sorted with a quick script as you have experienced. The best way to get this fixed is to pop a support ticket through MyAccount, or you can jump onto our live chat with MOCA and the team will run the script for you.
