Yep, that’s exactly it! Their email is still linked to their old employer’s MYOB Team, so it can’t be used with you until it’s removed there. If changing the email isn’t convenient, the best move is to have your employee contact their previous employer and ask them to remove their email from that old MYOB Team portal. Once that’s done, you’ll be able to set them up on your end using the same email. Also, they should clear the app cache, or better yet, uninstall and reinstall the MYOB Team app before trying again.
