Setting up additional two-factor authentication methods

Hey everyone!

We're introducing a new way to secure your accounts with additional two-factor authentication (2FA) methods.

This will prevent sign-in hassles and getting locked out if you can't get codes via your usual method.

We recommend setting this up now to ensure you have a backup method to login without needing to contact us.

You can set up:

- Authenticator app (recommended) on a mobile phone or tablet

- SMS sent to your mobile phone

- Email (if set up initially)

Instructions to set up an additional 2FA method:

1. Log into My Account (myaccount.myob.com).

2. Click your user name in the top-right corner and choose Account security.

3. Click the Add (>) button for the desired 2FA method.

4. Verify your identity with a 2FA code.

5. Follow the prompts to complete the setup.

Once set up, you'll be able to receive verification codes via different methods. If you need to remove or reset a 2FA method, you can do so from the same Account security menu.

For detailed steps, feel free to check out our Setting up additional two-factor authentication (2FA) methods help article.

Cheers, Amanda.

And when this happens when you have to login or relogin often once a day - do you just have restart the computer every time????

BTW - it doesnt matter if you hit yes or no - nothing happens. Sometimes CTR ALT DEL gets rid of myob and then you have to start again - pretty bloody frustrating. Wasn't too bad a prblem only loggin in every 24 hrs, but everytime you leave the computer is a right pain.

      Hey LKP

We've made a change to the AccountRight Desktop app to remove the 30 minute session inactivity lock after hearing our community's feedback and consulting with the ATO. You should no longer be experiencing the inactivity timeout on the desktop, however it will still remain in place if you are using AccountRight in the browser as this remains in line with ATO requirements.

        Hi Amanda,

Does this mean MYOB admits the 20 minute lockout is unnecessary and isn't coming back?

Every 24 hours is so frustrating, especially when I don't always have my phone handy to access the authenticator app

the 2FA mthod using the Authenticator app is hopelessly broken. I've tested it using random 6 string codes and that has worked 7 out of 11 times so far. Hardly secure.

Oooh, that's bad! I'm going to try that tomorrow out of curiosity. Sometimes the number on my authenticator app isn't accepted so I have to wait for it go through a full cycle to generate a new number and try that. Usually works on the second go.

      Hey nickf1

I'd recommend double checking your mobile device and the device you're trying to login to MYOB from both have the time and date settings set to automatic. Sometimes if the time has been manually set and is out by a few seconds, the code may not work successfully. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip - I've already made those checks some time ago and the issue recurs about half the time.
