Secure Invoicing

I have a few concerns about the new Secure Invoicing upgrade we are being basically forced to do.

We don't have online payments from our customers and probably never will. So now instead of emailing our invoices through MTOB we have to print to PDF and then send through Outlook for example. What if we have 50 invoices to send??

So how do we answer the upgrade questions when we don't have customer payments.

Further to this I don't understand why MYOB would need our turnover etc. What has this got to do with Secure Invoicing. MYOB just get around this question by advising of their Privacy Policy.

I confirm that my posts are now reviewed before being published, this did not used to be the case. One could assume that this tact is being used to attempt to discourage disgruntled users from lodging cases with AFCA or similar?

      Hi b_schmaal and Lmcstack ,

For secure invoicing in particular, there have been many discussions occurring at the same time.
With the intention that the community forum provides useful solutions for customers, that also means that information needs to be easy to find.

Many conversations have repeated the same complaints/feedback/questions and have been archived to focus everything under just 1 or 2 posts (this one for example which has over 100 comments)

Posts need to adhere to community guidelines and ultimately be approved. The 'in review' you see on posts now is simply an updated feature of the platform, you will also notice that your posts are visible to others even when 'in review' this has always been the case where comments are published immediately, and moderated afterwards.

If I was truly wanting to censor negativity around the secure invoicing topic, then the 100s of comments here would not exist.

I am just wondering if these invoice payment charges will apply once the government legislation kicks in? as once legislation is in force, it will then be illegal to charge fees for payment processing from my understanding?

  • Extreme dissatisfaction regarding forced upgrade and restricted invoice functionality

    To the MYOB Team,

I am writing to express my strong dissatisfaction with the current forced upgrade policy. As a paying subscriber, I find it unacceptable that my ability to send invoices via my own account is going to be restricted or blocked unless I comply with an mandatory upgrade which I do not want. The primary value of paying for this software is to manage my day-to-day invoicing seamlessly. Forcing long-term, paying customers into upgrades by withholding essential features defeats the entire purpose of the subscription. Because of this experience, I am actively looking into transferring my historical data over to Xero. I would appreciate it if a representative could contact me to discuss why this is being handled so rigidly, and what my options are to maintain my current invoicing setup without disruption. I do not want this forceful upgrade, this is not an upgrade, this is nuisance. what is the point of us paying this software if we can't send invoice this is **bleep**.

  • MYOB didn't want to do this, its all to do with the new Know Your Customer and Anti-Money Laundering laws that are coming into effect. MYOB needs to be compliant with the new laws, this is what they came up with. Xero, QuickBookx, Reckon, Sage etc they will all have to do something similar.

Unfortunately, there wasn't enough warning about it, its now coming up on my clients Dashboards that they only have 16 days to do this before it kicks in, it really should have been more obvious that this needed to be done rather than leave it so close to the EOFY.
Its an opt in or lose the feature situation, we'll be seeing this more often with the new laws.

Hi EM10, I was in this position last year, extremely angry, frustrated and worried because I did not want to provide MYOB with my sensitive information and didn't want to lose my ability to send invoices. I called MYOB, emailed them and argued on this forum, but eventually lost my ability to send invoices through the software and was forced to manually attach PDF to emails, until I was provided with an acceptable solution by others on this forum.

To be clear, it IS MYOB's choice to request Verification of your business, you are only required to Verify if you use MYOB's Secure Online Payment System. It has nothing to do with your invoices, it's because MYOB is a financial services Provider. MYOB has chosen to bundle secure invoicing with secure payments in an 'ecosystem'.

I have spoken to alot of people who love MYOB's payment system, and it does work to their benefit as explained by Mike, however many of us don't want to use it for various reasons.

As Mike suggests, mailto:[email protected] is the best way to get an exemption from verification and retain your ability to send invoices. If that fails, their are other alternatives which can be found in previous comments.
