Unable to email or save invoice in locked period

Good Morning

I am having issues with not being able to send invoices in a locked period to email or disc from the Invoice.

I am not trying to edit the invoice however I get the error message "You can't edit sales in the lock period".

I open the invoice and go straight to the send to tab without making any changes to the invoice.

Can this be rectified please.

    Hi

We are not able to save customer invoices that are in the locked period.

This seems like a new change. It is not convenient to unlock the period everytime we need to save or email an invoice. It is also risky that we may keep the periods unlocked so errors can happen. We need to keep the periods locked to avoid unwanted changes once BASs are lodged.

    Please rectify this.

    Yes, I agree as well.

This issue is no longer there if you've updated your software to the prompted latest version.

  • Hi StacieS

When you email an invoice, the delivery status in the invoice changes to "already emailed"  due to which it cannot be sent in the lock period. In order to do so , you will have to unlock the period and then email it. Let me know if you have further questions on this.

    Hi Brindly

This behaviour has not been changed, the invoices cannot be altered in the lock period. It would be recommended to unlock the period, email/save the invoice and then lock the period back again. The lock period would not allow you to make any changes to the invoices.

    Hi Komal

I'm not sure you quite understand.

    I agree with Brindly,

We used to be able to save and email invoices in the locked period without changing the security settings.

Now this is not possible as MYOB thinks we are changing the invoice. We are not making any changes, just wanting to save or email.

MYOB should allow us to do this without changing the settings and risking changes accidently occuring.

We can Open - Look - Print, so why can't we Open - Look - Save (or email)?

    Thanks

    That's exactly my point Komal.

We just need to save or email the invoices not make changes.

We understant that if we need to make changes to an invoice then the MYOB file needs to be unlocked.

Please make it possible to save or email invoices even if they fall into the locked period. It is important to keep the locked period locked to avoid mistakes.

I hope this is clear and your tema will take an action on this matter.

    Hi erlyn

If you are using AR2023, there is nothing to prevent you emailing or printing an invoice in the locked period. The issue with the above posts is the user wants to make a change and 'save' the invoice in the locked period - contrary to some comments, MYOB has never allowed this - and likely never will.

I just tested this in AR2023 (desktop software), set locked period to 1 July 2023. AR2023 allowed me to open, OK, print, email invoices without issue. It was only when I tried to make a minor change that I was prevented with a locked period message.

I don't know how this works in the browser.

    Regards

    Gavin
