Edit Menu Greyed out since last update

I need to delete two sales that have been raised in error.  There are no payments applied to these sales.  I have administrator access on the MYOB file and I am the only person in the office who has access to delete things. The option to require transaction reversal is not ticked in the preferences menu.

Since the last update my edit menu is greyed out and I can't delete anything.  This is quite urgent.

The MOCA thing is next to useless, and 45 minute wait time to chat to someone.

The answer was to use the browser version, and the development team would have to investigate why this has stopped working since the last update.  If people don't post things here, how will other people know that they are not the only person experiencing an issue, or that MYOB is not really testing their updates before they release them?

    Hi SDuddy,

Thanks for circling back with the response from your support ticket. This will be a great help to anyone else having the same problem.

We absolutely want you to be able to post questions here on the forum, in a perfect world, another MYOB user might have known the answer to that question and advised you to jump into the browser as well. The main difference between the forum and a support ticket is that when our moderators reply in the community forum, it needs to be general advice that can answer a post and provides a solution to others who have the same problem and come across the question in future.

There are a lot of situations (like the above) where a customer needs to have a 1:1 discussion and troubleshooting with a team member to work together on a solution. The community forum doesn't provide a good space for back and forth troubleshooting questions so we aim to focus on solutions and interactions that benefit the whole community while still directing those we can't help to the correct place (like creating a case).

    Cheers,

    MYOB

To help fix this, please make sure you have a transaction open on your screen this will allow you to access the edit option. If you're currently on the Command Centre tab, the edit option will appear greyed out since there's no transaction selected to edit.

Let us know if you need help opening a transaction or navigating through the steps we’re happy to guide you!

Updated MYOB version today and suddenly the entire Edit function is greyed out other than Reverse sale which I DO NOT NEED.  I simply want to delete one line and add another to an invoice that has not yet been posted.  Time consuming and annoying.   We should not have to call a representative for an issue that was ok prior to updating.  It does not matter if I have the transaction open or not, entire area is greyed out.

    Hi 1000000,

That's a bit of a pain. You go to make a quick tweak and the whole Edit menu isn't playing along. A quick trick you can try in the meantime, just right-click on the line in your invoice and you'll see the option to delete or add another line without needing the Edit menu. Also, sometimes a simple close and reopen of the desktop app can give things a bit of a reset.

If it's still giving you grief, best thing to do is jump onto our live chat support through our virtual assistant, MOCA, or submit a case via MyAccount. The team can check your account and fix it for you.

    Regards,

    Sai

    Hi Lyshea,

Upon checking, this doesn’t look like this is a widespread issue, so there isn’t a one‑size‑fits‑all fix just yet. That also makes it a bit tricky to say why it’s happening to your file right now. You could give these a go (as mentioned earlier in the thread):

    • Quit and relaunch the software.
    • Open the transaction first, then check if the edit button is grayed out
    • Try using the browser version to delete the transaction.
    • Or open the transaction, right‑click it, and choose Delete.

If none of that does the trick, you can get in touch with our support team to troubleshoot it further.

    Regards,
