MYOB offline being phased out

I Just received an email regarding the phasing out of the desktop library
I’m pretty disgusted that this is happening and having to have all files online and was told this would be happening mid June 2026 - not even the end of a financial year for an accounting program this is pretty pathetic.
Was told each file would be $ 35 per file
What happens to files that may have an audit and accounts that are needed for a 7 year period not to mention end of year journals for this current financial year.

I have been working with this program for 32years & not everyone wants their files online & in the cloud - let alone those who don't need payroll, use bank feeds or all the extra's that are in the program - not to mention those who live rurally with **bleep** internet

Very annoyed

So does this mean that I can still use my accountright desktop file after 17 June?  I was advised by someone at myob that I could not?

I don't care about security enhancements etc I just want to use my clients desktop files and not go online.

Is there something I need to do to keep using it?

And why would myob make all these changes just before the end of the financial year - surely this could have happened after June 30.

Love Tassie but not able to travel for a while so too late for this fix. I believe you have until 17th June to prevent the upgrade but you can download old versions if you miss your window and stop the upgrade before using it (only if you have recent backups to restore as you can't use an already upgraded file). I just looked and I definitely found the Update.exe file so I'm wondering which version you are using because some of the earlier offline versions didn't automatically upgrade which means you don't need to do anything. If it is a current version, then try searching Update.exe in Windows Explorer on your C: Drive and see what comes up. I just tried and it showed several files including the MYOB file as described.

    Cheers

  • And you know what makes it worse: if you do try to migrate a company file on line, you may just find that the functionality does not work. I had tried sending an online file when I last upgraded. I never used the on line file and just left it there, so it is an older version, which will actually no longer run, even if i wanted to use it. But the new on-line license only allows you to have one company file - if you need multiple each extra one must be licensed separately. But, once you have a file there, you can not over-write it, replace it or delete it. So when I went to load a file, the upload failed.  And of course, the upload fails with a stupid message. Checking the MYOB logs shows it is a server fault - the upload is trying to copy a file but the server will not allow it. The low level support staff in the Philipines can't fix it and it needs to be passed upstairs, which just adds more delays. So when you do go on line, make sure that (1) you have the correct version of the company file - if you open a company file from a directory other than the one MYOB expectes, it copies it to the MYOB directory. So your old file sits there, unloved and unused - and in the old version (2) you don't already have a file sitting on the server (3) you have thought about what you will do when you have to sit and wait for MYOB support to fix your problem.

    Hi Mike,

I have clicked the link to take the file online and it takes me to a generic new subscription page.  I have a subscription (for offline file) how is this dealt with?  I don't feel I need to re-subscribe?? My subscription says it is a "Business Accountright Premier" what does that mean?
