I Just received an email regarding the phasing out of the desktop library I’m pretty disgusted that this is happening and having to have all files online and was told this would be happening mid June 2026 - not even the end of a financial year for an accounting program this is pretty pathetic. Was told each file would be $ 35 per file What happens to files that may have an audit and accounts that are needed for a 7 year period not to mention end of year journals for this current financial year.
I have been working with this program for 32years & not everyone wants their files online & in the cloud - let alone those who don't need payroll, use bank feeds or all the extra's that are in the program - not to mention those who live rurally with **bleep** internet
We all hear you and we are all desperately trying to objectively make the case for the return of these functions in some way.
Mike_MYOB, respectively I think your data does not display the real problem and the 2% is only measuring those simply having no internet connection available; but what this figure doesn't show is the appalling quality of the internet, especially rural, but not exclusively that Australians in business needs to deal with on a daily basis.
I have just posted in Google this question and picture regarding Australian internet speeds, quality, availability is a lot more damming than the 2% picture suggested above. Ok, this is an AI search and the sources may not be government based but what I am trying to demonstrate is the real state of the internet in Australia ....and if we put some figures, in general, to the issue eloquently stated ( I smile) Cappuccino complaint about rural speeds does seem relavent.
Mike_MYOB. I would suggest the below figures are more accurate as to internet speeds, remote, rural and semi-rural and from experience ( almost 30 years) it would seem reasonable to suggest that MYOB re-adjust their numbers of dissatisfied rural, remote, semi-rural users using the local back up feature and ability to open their file locally to continue day-to-day business functions.
MYOB, Mike_MYOB, we just want to be heard - there is a lot of anger out there and MYOB over the years has attracted a lot of users from afar, from remote, from rural, from overseas because of this very feature to be able to continue business offline whilst someone fixes the internet ...... a constant cry of internet users in this country.
Hi TMB1 , I would appreciate if you can avoid any personal attacks please. You can review our guidelines here
In 2025 the Australian government released a report that identifies 2% of Australians are without internet source here We also provide our software for Australian and New Zealand businesses, it would be (assumed) an equally low number of customers who are likely to be trying to work from overseas in locations without internet.
There will absolutely be a small number of customers who are impacted by the removal of offline functionality due to internet access, if they connect with our support or sales teams and talk through their unique situations, we can better understand their situation and may be able to come up with a way of working that suits them.
If you are using the latest version of AccountRight online with a subscription, then it wont be possible to access this in an offline mode (without an internet connection).
There have been a lot of improvements with starlink and some mobile providers increasing network coverage, but if you are regularly working for extended periods of time without internet, you would most likely need to keep manual records and then update your MYOB once you have a connection again.
We do complete testing with customers before changes are made as well, and often this is through data directly based on how customers use the software and in many cases, with a group of customers in an early access program.
I've used MYOB for over 30 years. At no stage have MYOB ever asked when and where I use the program. They just blithely go ahead and make changes without any feedback from users.
The young, narrow-minded, inexperienced propellor heads in MYOB obviously have no experience running a small business nor working in remote locations, including overseas, without an internet connection.
No one in MYOB has yet explained to me how I access my online company file when I don't have an internet connection.
Hi JoanEllen , you wont need to do any manual updating in MYOB Business Pro. Once you have purchased the subscription, you can submit a migration request here and MYOB will migrate your data from AccountRight into your MYOB Business file. The team do have a lot of requests at the moment and are taking a little longer to process these, however you can continue working in your AccountRight file offline in Server Edition until they reach out and request a copy of/access to your file.
Would you please answer this or advise who I need to ask.
We have over 300 customers in our AccountRight offline datafile. I want to transfer the customer and contractor cards to the online BusinessPro. How do we do this please? I don't want to have to type in 300 customer cards. Please advise.
Hi JoanEllen , you didnt ask about confirmations (although this has been asked and answered elsewhere already).
Confirmations are still supported in Server Edition for perpetual licence holders yes.
Customers with a perpetual licence can use AccountRight Server Edition, offline, with no subscription.
I cannot comment on what may or may not happen future, this is why we are putting out a caveat to customers that server edition is not supported. A windows update for example could occur and stop it from working at any time.
MYOB does not have any plans currently to alter the confirmations for AccountRight Server Edition
Mike, please answer the question. If we continue using AccountRight offline, will our file be made read only or otherwise deliberately disabled by MYOB in the future? Please just answer this.
Hi JoanEllen , sorry for any confusion, I have certainly tried to be as consistent and clear as possible. But there are a lot of unique customer scenarios and probably over 100 replies from me on this topic now so I can completely understand. No one is being 'forced' to go online or take a subscription though, although I acknowledge many are saying they feel that way.
Long story short:
Want to continue working offline?
You can do this in AccountRight Server Edition if you have a perpetual licence yes
Note: Server Edition will not receive any further compliance, security or feature updates so we are not advising this as long term solution
There are also community members like Liz_A and gavin12345 who are suggesting there are options for continuing to use an older version of PC edition if you look through some of their comments.
You can download Server Edition from our downloads page here
Want to work with AccountRight online?
You can only do this in AccountRight PC Edition 2026.5 (and beyond)
PC edition will continue to have monthly updates, the latest features, security and compliance updates as well as access to live services.
Sorry Mike, I'm getting confused here. Are you saying we can stay with AccountRight offline after all if we have a perpetual licence, and our datafile won't be made read-only in the future? There is so much conflicting advice here from what the MYOB system tells me (forced to go online to a subscription service) to what is said here on the forum.
Please just confirm one way or the other so I know.
