Payroll - sending payroll info to the ATO

Has anyone had trouble with sending payroll information to the ATO today??  I keep getting an error message "something went wrong - the action couldn't be completed - please try again in a moment".  Well I have tried 6 times now and it STILL isn't working!  It seems that EVERY time a new update is rolled out this same problem arises - inability to send payroll information to the ATO!  You would think that the programmers would check this before rolling out an update!!  It is a critical area within payroll.

    Hi FinanceDMPL,

Thanks for raising this. Based on current information, we have no indication of a widespread incident today impacting MYOB payroll submissions to the ATO.

You can reach out to our team directly for further assistance, You can reach them on Live Chat via our virtual assistant, MOCA or by submitting a support case via MyAccount.

    Regards,

Thanks - I checked manually on the Payroll Reporting area and it eventually showed as having been submitted even though I kept getting the same error message about being unable to send.

  • We have staff who are getting errors today. When they have logged in it's asking us to setup single touch payroll reporting again.

    Hi NickSullivan,

It is certainly confusing when the software asks you to set up STP when you've already done it. That prompt to set up STP again usually pops up when the system can’t quite tick off all the checks it runs in the background. It’s basically asking you to walk through the setup so it can reconfirm your business and payroll details.

The best (and safest) way forward is just to follow the setup steps through to the end so everything can be re‑validated. It only takes a few screens, and once that’s done, you should be able to send your STP reports as normal again.

I tried to do one of my activity statements today and the STP pre-fill payroll info was missing.

When I went to MYOB it looked like my entire STP setup has been deleted and was prompting me to set it up again.

I have another company with payroll and it seems ok.

    Hi XX2,

Totally get why it’s a bit rattling when STP suddenly looks like it’s not set up. The good news is it’s usually just AccountRight “forgetting” the setup, not the ATO dropping your registration.

    Quick way to reset it:

    • Open AccountRight in your browser and go to Payroll > Single Touch Payroll reporting.
    • Click Get started / Set up STP, run through the prompts, and just confirm your ABN/branch and who’s lodging, then finish.
    • Back on that same screen, pick the current payroll year and click Send update event, then wait for it to show as Accepted.

That pushes your current year‑to‑date figures through to the ATO and usually gets the STP/BAS pre‑fill back on track. If it’s still not looking right after that, I recommend reaching out to our support team. You can do this by creating a ticket on the My Account page or connecting with our live chat team through MOCA, our virtual assistant.

    Cheers,
