MYOB AccountRight Desktop on Windows ARM PC

I've just had to update my Surface Pro to the latest version (long story), which is running one of the Snapdragon ARM processors and Windows 11.

Looks like the Desktop version of MYOB AccountRight won't run natively on this setup, and I can't operate my business using the web based one, as it doesn't give me access to all the inventory/item maintenance stuff, or autobuilds, etc.

Does anyone know if there is a work around that will enable me to run the Desktop version of AccountRight on my new machine?

Regards,

Mike

    Hi Mike_Solux,

Thank you for reaching out and providing details about your setup. Transitioning to a new device can be challenging, especially when it affects critical business functions. MYOB AccountRight's desktop version may not be fully compatible with devices running ARM processors, like the one in your Surface Pro. Please check the System Requirements to ensure your device meets the necessary specifications so that you can run AccountRight smoothly.

    Regards,

    Sai

    Hi Sai,

Thanks for your reply, but I'm looking for assistance from someone that may have successfully installed and got working the desktop version of MYOB on an ARM based PC running Windows 11, so I can potentially achieve the same on my machine.

I can install the App, and open it successfully.  However, when I got to open my online company file it attempts to open a login window and then the software just hangs.  I then have to open task manager to shut it down.

    Regards,

    Mike

    Hi Mike_Solux

Although MYOB AccountRight isn't supported on Windows RT (Surface Pro OS), I understand there may be users who have found a workaround for this. While you're waiting for others to respond, it might be best to find a device that natively supports AccountRight.

Feel free to start a new thread if you need any further assistance.

    Regards,

    Hi Genreve_S

I'm not running Windows RT - I have a Surface Pro 11 running Windows 11.  The issue is that the Surface Pro 11 utilises the Snapdragon Processor, which is an ARM device, not an Intel device.

It would be good if the moderators would stop chipping in with obvious, but entirely unhelpful, comments and leave it to someone that's actually been down this path and successfully had it set up and working to comment.

At this point, in all my search engine and AI enquiries, mine appears to be the first related to trying to get MYOB AccountRight functioning on an ARM based device.  As I mentioned, I can get the program to install and run, but when I attempt to open my online company file, the login prompt window doesn't load properly, and the software hangs.

So, for anyone considering an "upgrade" to any PC using the Snapdragon processor, at this point you've got three options:

    1. Don't - stick with an Intel based device
    2. Go ahead, but suffer having to use the web browser based version only
    3. Go ahead, and switch to another business software provider

    Regards,

    Mike

    Hi Mike_Solux

I'm sorry I missed the part where you mentioned you are on Windows 11. Thank you for clarifying, It might be best to reach out to support by creating a support ticket in the My Account page while having the latest diagnostic log handy. As that will help them identify what's causing the issue.

    Thanks,
    Genreve

Hi Mike I am looking at upgrading my laptop too to the same as you - did you get it working, as notice this is 2 months ago ....?

No, I didn't.  I was able to install the Desktop App and get that running, but when I tried to open my online company file, it would hang.  So I gave up, sent the new PC back and upgraded the SSD on my existing one to get me out of trouble.

Interestingly, my business partner, unbeknownst to me, went down the same path and reckons he's got MYOB working, so not sure what I was doing wrong.

oh wow .....any chance you can give me  your business partners email so I can contact them....or find out what he did....I think they are a great new laptop with great features...but like you I don't want to hit issues like this!

I suspect it's more what he didn't do...or what I didn't do. He did nothing special - just downloaded and installed the MYOB Desktop App, same as me. But I suspect I'd installed something else that he hasn't, and that potentially is the difference.

he's having a heap of trouble with a few other apps that I don't use, so clearly Snapdragon ARM processors and Windows compatibility is still very Beta
