Sales: Automatically add Surcharge if customer pays via EFTPOS or MPowered Invoices
After an extremely frustrating chat with MPOWERED sales today, I'm here.. .offering a tip for the community to consider. Increasing my existing clients are asking for credit card facilities. My discussion with MYOB was how to integrate a set percentage ie surchange into the payment if a client chooses to pay by a means other than direct funds transfer to our bank account. I understand many retailers factor that into their fees, we're not in a position to do that, and I'd like to give the person paying the option as to the way they pay us and how many credit card fees are attached. (Similar with what happens when we pay our utilities or even insurance bills) Please MYOB consider it, I'm sure I'm not the only one with this frustration. I have just started using MYOB Accountright Plus Live and used to make my supplier payments using the "To Do List"- very fast way to make bulk payments. The new version of MYOB doesn't combine all the payments to the same supplier into one bulk payment, instead it pay each invoice seperately. This is a problem for two reasons, firstly it significantly increases the number of payments in my electronic banking files and secondly Myob will only let you make these payments in batches of up to 50 payments at a time. (very very inconvenient as I now need to go into pay bills and make a payment to each supplier individually and then prepare my electronic payments (doing payroll and creditors seperately due to the number of transactions in my .aba file). When you create a new quotation or invoice, theTax Inclusivecheckbox is 'remembered' from the previous transaction. This means that each business could control the setting according to their business requirements. In our personal business situation, industry standard for our commercial work is typically GST exclusive whereas our domestic stream of work is typically GST inclusive. We have had a couple of occasions now where the GST checkbox was 'remembered' from the lastquotation (that was GST inclusive) and as a consequence a quotation that should have had 10% added for GST was not added because it was not noticed that the checkbox was on.This of course can be the difference between making a profit or a loss.ARRefrigeration4 months agoCover User13KViews20likes22CommentsReport: Job Transactions [Accrual] - Include order transactions

The existing set up is going to make the reporting at year end a nightmare if you have a high volume of contractors who invoice regularly with a mix of reportable and non reportable charges. Currently if a supplier is marked as reportable, then all invoices will be shown as reportable unless you manually untick one. If you're going through hundreds of invoices, how will you know what to tick and untick? This is especially the case if the person responsible for putting the report together isn't the person doing all the data entry. If you shift the tick box from the supplier card to the purchase entry screen then the decision to report a payment can be made at the time of data entry. This way, when it comes time to report at year end you'll only be able to report on charges you've considered reportable at the time of data entry which makes much more sense. I can't see the current setup being anywhere near sufficient to help those in the building industry meet ATO requirements at the end of the year. When entering an account number in theBanking > Spend MoneyorBanking > Receive Moneyforms, the second character typed can appear at a further point in the account number string if typed too quickly. This problem occurs regardless of the state of the "Use Easy-Fill When Selecting From a List" option. I've verified this to be the case by using a keylogger on the machine to ensure keystrokes were being entered in the correct order. I've also confirmed that if an account code is copied and pasted from another source that it always appears correctly, so it seems to be exclusively a problem with manually entering a partial or full account number. What appears to be happening is that after the first keystroke is entered, the account numbers load and lock the interface during loading. If the user is still entering the account number while the list is loading, the second character seems to be stored and kept whilst subsequent characters are entered as normal into the field. Once the list has loaded, the second character entered is then inserted into the string at whichever position is now last in the string. The result of this is that a user entering "12345" quickly in this field can end up with an account numberlooking like any of: "12345", "13245", "13425", or "13452". The "1", "3", "4", and "5" are always in the correct order, it's just that the "2" is changing location in the string. My users most commonly just enter three digits, e.g. "124" in order to have the account number list display all the "1-24xx" numbers, but this bug causes that to appear in the field as "1-42" and as we have no account numbers beginning with "1-42xx", the list of available account numbers is empty. So far the solution we've been given from MYOB support is "have your users work slower", but that's a very non-ideal solution. It means my users have to not only slow down but also double check every account number they enter in case the digits have been swapped in such a way that the incorrect account number exists and items get coded to the wrong account. Before replacing my laptop recently, I was experiencing delays of up to 60 seconds while an item invoice screen opened, and similar delays on other events. The program fell into a 'not responding' state after about 5 seconds. Note that this did not happen with orders or quotes. Since my hardware upgrade, the program responds quickly, but there are clearly 000's of users being severely hampered. Why is speed so important? I quote from a response I received to a (UK) forum posting of mine in 2003 concerning the future of accounting software: "As far as SME's are concerned, the future of accounting software, in a word, is speed. The speed at which you process, operate, report on, act upon, share and manage your business processes. This will be due to not one single event or technology, more a continuation of the trend that began around 10 years ago when the first second generation systems began to appear. The Web will certainly play a big part in this by connecting businesses together with each other and with their employees". Prophetic words indeed! And as an MYOBuser remarked this week, "we are all time-constrained". Many users have made comments about the program being slow. Fine, but if the speed issues are to be addressed, MYOB needs to know more than that. Anyone posting comments about speed should include: - hardware summary (at least: memory, processor speed, operating system) - software version and file location (local, network or cloud) - the exact step/s which are slow, eg opening a register or list, recording a transaction, etc., with time taken.
